Caleb Bratayley was a young American boy who achieved fame with his family through their YouTube vlogging channel Bratayley. Consider it an online version of the Kardashians, but with less drama, of course. Caleb, a lover of sports and games, later created his own channel called blazenoutlaws, which was also very popular.
Unfortunately, on October 1, 2015, the Bratayleys announced on their official Instagram page that Caleb had tragically passed away. Originally the reason was given as natural causes, but as expected in cases like this, not many immediately believed the story, and some suspected foul play.
However, further details revealing that Caleb was suffering from a disease that went unnoticed over the years clarified the question of the cause of Caleb’s death. Here’s everything you need to know about the deceased boy.
Caleb Bratayley Biography
Caleb was born on July 13, 2002, in Georgia as the first child of Katie and Billy LeBlanc as Caleb Logan LeBlanc. He was the only male child in his family and had two sisters named Hayley (born September 2, 2008) and Annie (December 5, 2004).
On September 30, 2010, his parents set up a YouTube channel for his youngest sister Hayley and named him Bratayley, a pseudonym made up of “brat” and “Hayley”. A channel created as a joke to put the whole family in the spotlight. Caleb and the rest of his family soon began playing on the channel and it quickly became a family blog.
Caleb’s personality as a funny and talented boy was immediately recognizable on the canal. With the nickname “Baked Potato”, Caleb created the “I am a Baked Potato” closing song of her vlog. He loved sports and played baseball at school as a catcher. On the baseball field, Caleb has nicknamed Wheels because he was a fast runner.
The guy was known for his love of the video game “Minecraft”, which he played on his channel “Blazenoutlaws”. His favorite food was macaroni and cheese, while his best colors were black and purple.
Caleb also appeared on other channels created by his family members, including TruthPlusDare and OMMyGoshTV. These two channels were created by his father, who serves in the U.S. Navy, to allow other YouTubers access to an audience they would not have originally known.
Her Bratayley channel has reached more than 1 billion viewers, which led her to sign up with Disney’s Maker Studios.
Caleb’s Cause of Death Revealed
The sudden death of Caleb Bratayley on October 1, 2015, in his family home in Maryland was a great shock for his fans worldwide. The cause of Caleb Bratayley’s death was originally attributed to natural causes.
A few days after the first report, his family announced that Caleb had died from the effects of an undiagnosed disease. This medical condition was later discovered to be hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which in plain language means that the heart muscle is thickened beyond the norm so that it is no longer able to pump blood effectively.
The family suspected the disease before the doctors confirmed it and said the family had a history of the disease. However, Caleb never showed any symptoms throughout his life and the disease remained undetected during all his medical examinations. The research confirms that many people living with the disease can live without symptoms for years and lead normal lives like the average healthy person.
After Caleb’s death, his two sisters Annie and Hayley were examined for signs of the disease, but nothing was found. Some of Caleb’s organs were donated to save lives.
Caleb had made a video called “Dear Future Self” the day before his death. In this video, which was released on October 3, he gave an answer to a question one of his fans had asked about what he would ask his future self. Caleb’s question was since he was his usual funny self, “Is Taco Bell still there?”
Eight days after his death, Caleb’s family made the memorial service available to his fans via live streams on Facebook and Periscope. In his honor, his channel “Blazenoutlaws” was renamed “The Arrow Faction”, a Collab channel.
