Jesus Aguilar is a professional baseball player from Venezuela who is currently playing as the first baseman for the MLB Milwaukee Brewers. He was born on June 30, 1990, in Maracay, Venezuela, as the son of Jesus and Maria Aguilar under the birth name of Jesus Alexander Aguilar.
Growing up in Maracay, Venezuela, Aguilar said that he played around the neighborhood, engaging in all kinds of sports from indoor soccer to baseball with a rubber ball in the street. But his special interest was baseball, as he started playing at the age of four. He started as a third baseman, but now he plays first and sometimes on the left field.
At the age of seventeen, he signed with the Cleveland Indians as a freelance amateur agent and spent his first two seasons with the Dominican Summer League Indians in the Minor League. In 2010, he split his season between two minor-league teams, and in the 2011 season, he scored twenty-three home runs between the Class A-Advanced Carolina League Kinston Indians and the Class A Midwest League Lake County Captains.
In 2012, Jesus Aguilar and Puerto Rican player Francisco Lindor represented the Indians at this year’s All-Star Futures Game. After that Aguilar was invited to the spring training 2013 as a non-player for training. He started his 2013 season with the Class AA Eastern League Akron Aeros, recording a total of sixteen home runs, one hundred and five hundred runs, twenty-eight doubles, and a batting average of 0.275. His RBIs this year were the highest in the history of the Akron franchise. According to his statistics, he was added to the 40-man Indian list in November 2013.
He began his 2014 season with the Columbus Clippers in the Class AAA International League, beating .298 with seven home runs and nineteen RBIs in thirty-seven games before advancing to the Major League in May of the same year, but the following month he was transferred back to Columbus after eight games with the Indians.
Aguilar remained with Columbus until July 2015, when he was promoted back to the premier league. During his stay at Columbus early in the 2015 season, he was named the International League’s first baseman in the Triple-A All-Star Game. The following season (2016), he led the International League with ninety-two RBIs and thirty home runs.
Regardless of these records, Aguilar was designated by the Indians in January 2017. The following month, the Milwaukee Brewers claimed him for waivers. After a very impressive performance during the 2017 Spring Training, Aguilar earned a place on the Brewers’ Opening Day Roster. This season, Jesus Aguilar played a total of one hundred and thirty-three games with sixteen home runs, fifty-two RBIs, .331 OBP, and a batting average of .265.
In the 2018 season, he beat .307 with twenty-three home runs and sixty-seven RBIs to win the NL final vote for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game and an invitation to participate in the home run derby, which he accepted. He ended the season with a .274 hit, scoring thirty-five home runs and one hundred and eighty-eight RBIs.
Jesus Aguilar’s Family, Wife
As mentioned above, Aguilar is the son of Jesus and Maria Aguilar. He is the youngest of their three children. He grew up in a middle-class family with his two older sisters. According to him, he was (still) the niño who played around the house all the time, and everyone had to look after him.
Jesus Aguilar is not married and has no children yet. He prefers to keep his private life away from the media, so there is really no information about who is meeting with whom or if he is actually with someone or not. He is probably focusing on his career right now and could be single.
The first baseman of the MLB is the cousin of Juan Aguilar. Jesus is glad that there are other professional baseball players from his hometown in Maracay, like Miguel Cabrera, Jose Altuve, and Bobby Abreu.
Height, Weight, Body Measurements
With a height of 6 feet 2 in (1.90 m), the Venezuelan baseball player will definitely not be counted among the shortest players in the league. He weighs 113 kg (248 lb). Details of his other body stats will be updated once confirmed.
