A Filipino American star, Jordan Clarkson is one of the popular stars of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a professional basketball player and as at the time of this report, he plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA, having made the Draft in 2014.
Since then, he has remained a significant player for the team. Having played with other clubs before making the transfer to the Cavaliers, here is all to know about his career and personal life.
Early Life and Rise to Fame
The Cavaliers guard was born on June 7, 1992, in Tampa, Florida. He was raised here for some time before his family later moved to San Antonio.
Jordan received his high school education from the Karen Wagner High School. After he was done, he proceeded to the University of Tulsa before he later transferred to the University of Missouri in 2013. His college career was significant for various accomplishments such as making the C-USA All-Freshman Team in 2011 and the First-team All-C-USA in 2012. In 2014, he made the Second-team All-SEC.
As it has obviously been pointed out, he had a very successful college career in both universities and it was because of this that he made it and got picked in the 2014 NBA Draft.
He went on to become the only second player of Filipino descent since 1978 to play in the National Basketball Association; the first was Raymond Townsend who played until 1982.
After the Washington Wizards picked him, they immediately traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers and that was where he kicked off his professional runs. At the end of his first season, he made it as one of the All-Rookie First Team of the NBA. This was even more significant because he didn’t get to play many games in the first half of the season.
Jordan remained with the team up until 2018 when he made a move to Cleveland Cavaliers after he and Larry Nance Jr. were traded for guard Isaiah Thomas and forward Channing Frye. The deal would have the Lakers have the first-round pick in the 2018 Draft.
His professional career is thus far capped with achievements including the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2015, the rookie of the month in March of the same year, as well as participation in the 2016 Rising Stars Challenge.
