Gallagher’s birth name is Noel Thomas, David Gallagher. He was born in Longsight, Manchester, England as the second son to Irish Catholic couples Peggy and Thomas Gallagher on 29 May 1967. He has an older brother Paul in addition to Liam who is younger by 5 years. The boys were a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of their father Tom who was an alcoholic. Tom who was often reclusive also domestically abused their mother Peggy who by 1976 had had enough and divorced him. She gained control of her sons and began raising them alone.
